Betkuchi HS became the champion of the Guwahati leg of the Airtel Rising Star Football tournament. They defeated the Sankar Madhav School of Mirza 3-0.
The tournament was organised by Airtel with help of Assam Football Association and Guwahati Sports Association. Airtel organised this tournament to scout footballing talents and give them exposure. Airtel will organise training sessions at Manchester United.
From the Guwahati leg, three players were selected for the national camp at Goa and one goalkeeper was selected for the camp to be held at Mumbai. From the national camp, a team of 11 players will be selected to participate in training sessions at Manchester United FC.
The players selected from the Guwahati leg were Suraj Basumatary, Nayan Jyoti Kuli, Lakhaya Jyoti Borah and Goalkeeper Deepjyoti Pathak.
Winners of the leg Betkuchi, pocketed Rs. 30,000, and runner-up Mirza, pocketed Rs. 20,000.
